This year, the FBD took place as a digital event, streamed live from Weissenhäuser Strand in Ostholstein, Schleswig-Holstein. On 31 May 2021, professionals from business, administration, science, politics and NGOs met mostly online at the Fehmarnbelt Days conference.
A total of 745 participants in all sessions took part in the fifth Fehmarnbelt – a real record! The importance of the international conference was clear from the line-up of the individual sessions. They ranged from EU Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean to Denmark’s Transport Minister Benny Engelbrecht and Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Günther and four state ministers to representatives of business, chambers, associations and science from Scandinavia, Germany and other European countries. Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer also highlighted the advantages of the fixed Fehmarnbelt link in a video message. All participants agreed: The conference – which was held digitally for the first time – represents a great success for the development of Northern Europe.
