How to get there

Please have a look at the map below to get a first impression on the accessibility of our venue. You directly reach it with metro line U4 or by bus (line 111). Parking facilities can be found on Überseeallee 3 (also indicated in the map).

… by train and public transport

The German Railway (Deutsche Bahn) takes you to Hamburg Central Station. There, you can directly change to metro line U4 and get off at the last stop: “HafenCity Universität” (only seven minutes and three stops from the central station).

If you prefer to travel by bus, you can start in Altona (also a stop of the German Railway – although not for all trains) and change into bus 111 in direction of “Shanghaiallee”. Please get off at the last stop (“Shanghaiallee”). The trip from Altona takes you about 33 minutes by bus.

A complete schedule of the public transportation system is available on hvv.de.

…by plane

From the airport you have several options to reach the HafenCity University (for external information, please consider the information provided by Hamburg Airport):

  • The S-Bahn (suburban rail network) line S1 operates every 10 minutes between Hamburg Airport and Hamburg’s central railway station, Hauptbahnhof. The trip only takes 25 minutes. The “Hamburg Airport (Flughafen)” S-Bahn station is directly in front of the terminals and is easily reached by lift, escalator or stairs. Take the S1 in the direction of “Ohlsdorf” (or “Blankenese” or “Wedel”) to Hamburg’s central railway station. Please change here to metro line U4 as indicated in “… by train and public transport ”. You can also change in “Berliner Tor” (one station before the central station), the instructions remain the same. For your own itinerary, please consult HVV.
  • The taxi departure locations are to be found outside the exits of Terminal 1 and 2 in the arrival areas. By taxi the journey will cost you about € 30 (non-binding) and takes approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic. You can find additional information, a detailed map and also book a taxi beforehand by using this external link.

… by car

“HafenCity Universität” should be included as “point of interest” in every navigation system – if it is not, please enter “Überseeallee 16, 20457 Hamburg” as the destination. Otherwise, please use Google Maps to plan your route. Simply enter your place of departure and print out your directions.

If you do not find parking space around the venue, please use the car park in Überseeallee 3 as it is the closest to the venue (see map above).

Parking spaces are very limited in the area of the HafenCity! If possible, take public transportation and leave your car at the hotel.
