/ The EU´s nine core network corridors aim at establishing the best possible network of efficient infrastructures in Europe as a basis for growth and sustainable development. The longest, the ScanMed Corridor from Italy to Finland, will increase mobility in the most economically powerful corridor through Europe. Two highly ambitious projects in the corridor, the Brenner Base Tunnel and the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel, will remove two major bottlenecks and increase accessibility between Italy and central Europe as well as Scandinavia and Central Europe. The two projects are a high priority for the EU and receive financial support from the TEN-T program. The regional authorities around both links fully support their realization – and are planning for the huge benefits that the two tunnels will bring.
